"We Serve". From the day the first lions club was founded back in 1917 our mantra has been the same. Two simple words that have come to mean so much to so many. Our credo has a battle cry. A roar of pride and of persistence. We will not rest, we will not falter, we will not stray, we will not fail. Our mission is too important, too dire, too vital. We must and will succeed.
Our mission, To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
In 1925, Helen Keller addressed the Lions international convention in Cedar Point, Ohio, USA. She challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." From this time, Lions clubs have been actively involved in service to the blind and visually impaired.
